1000+

Well I’ve finally reached the 1000+ visitors no thanks to my loyal fans, I won’t mention any names but you know who you are!

Wedding plans are chugging on ahead; I don’t know when it’s actually going to hit me that these wedding plans and preps are actually for me and not for someone else.

Btw my rant from a few weeks ago on Bengali backward culture is still in full steam mode! Bah Humbug!

Ego Boost

I’ve just come across this whilst unpacking and my ego does not allow for me to pass it by without making reference to it. Hehe.
It’s the covering letter sent by the agency to my place of work when they were putting me forward for the job I’m currently doing.

We hold the following written references on ******:

“A good performance that is hard to beat. Her strengths were her attention to detail, acumen, reliability, accuracy and using her initiative.”

Glorious Food

I came into work this morning to find two big platters of fresh pastries waiting for me, all because three other work colleagues and I have moved to the 2nd floor.
What a nice welcome that was!

Demand

I just found out that I’m in demand albeit a tad late….With ongoing organisational changes ***** were unable to offer me a permanent contract. Now these organisational changes have been finalised and taken place some managers have been given the go ahead to start recruiting.
It would seem the Ireland team decided they would try to poach me my offering me a perm contract only for my new manager to say ‘No way jose!’ He then ran off to HR to try and sort out a contract only for my current manager to say ‘Actually…shes leaving’.
Hehe. It feels good to be in demand…..

Neville Southall

And for those of you who care we also have Neville Southall coming on the 29th June, so that employees can have a chance at scoring a goal past him.

Footballs coming to ......work!

They have a Keepy-Uppy (keeping a football up in the air) competition going. Some of them are really good. There was woman Arsenal football player and this other guy who was really good who I’m assuming was a professional footballer, although who I’m not sure.
Everyone who took part received an England Beach towel and a football and the winner won……wait for it…….a signed David Beckham Shirt! If only I’d known…….

Ice-cream

More ice-cream downstairs…..

6 weeks and 5 days...

6 weeks and 5 days….

If anyone wants to whisk me away to Zanzibar then speak now or forever hold your peace…..

Which?

I just realised that I have access to Which Consumer guide via work! Arghh…really could have done with it when I was buying the digi cam.
So I have just saved a list of all the login and passwords for the various publications etc that us employees have access to. I wish I had done that when I was working at Renault and had the password and login for HPI checks. I could have charged my Bro-in-law £20 a pop….hehe.

Football

The foyer downstairs has been transformed into a football pit with Astroturf laid out on the floor complete with a goal at one end and footballs for everyone to practise their penalty kicks! What is missing is the football bean bag chairs everywhere that we had last year but oh well in compensation this morning we all arrived at work to find a little gift of a stress ball in the design of a football on our desks!
Adios amigos, this is one tired chick ready to go home and kick back.
Wa Salaam.

Beep! Beep!

With all that’s going on I completely forgot to blog about my driving lesson on the Friday gone.
Well my driving lesson was at 6.30pm but that afternoon I completely forgot that I had a lesson, on top of that I left work 30 minutes later than usual, and on top of that the train I was meant to catch was cancelled.
I ended up taking the train to Hayes and it was only there that I remembered I had a lesson. I called up my instructor to let her know that I was running late but would you believe she had left her phone at home and her daughter picked the phone up!

Eventually got home and the instructor did ask if I perhaps wanted to cancel that’s day lesson and I was incredibly tempted as I was soooo tired. But I thought since she had come all the way I might as well have a lesson. Wrong decision!

To cut a long story short as I ending up hitting the front wheel of the car slightly against the kerb, and I’m not sure if it was because of the angle at which I hit the kerb at or because of the tyre its self but I ended up with getting  flat tyre!
It’s a brand new 206 so my instructor is yet to change the tyre on it.
So there we were on the side of the road with me reading the manual and her trying to get the tyre loose from under the car! And what should happen…a young guy goes past and asks if we need any help. We accept and my instructor asks if he knows anything about changing tyres. He replies “I work in a tyre shop”.
Alhamdulillah he changed the tyre in five minutes flat and was on his way! What are the chances of that hey!

Trouble in Mind

Trouble in mind
I'm blue
But I won't be blue always
Cos the sun's gonna shine
My back door someday

Trouble in mind
It's true
I have almost lost my mind
Never had so much trouble
In my life before

I'm gonna lay my head
On some lonesome railroad line
Let the two nineteen train
Ease my troubled mind

8 weeks, 6 days and counting…

Wedding

Well it was a lovely warm weekend mashaAllah.  Went wedding shopping or more specifically wedding invitation shopping over the weekend, and all I can say is wedding shopping on ones own is unbelievably depressing esp when your faced with an  emotionally poignant moment. Didn’t expect it to be so depressing but Alhamdulillah it’s now done!

Unwell

I’m not feeling too well……think I might be coming down with something.

Wedding

I know I haven’t blogged in a while, but apart from the impending nuptials nowt else has been happening and I don’t think I want to blog about the wedding. I did think about having a completely separate blog just for the wedding and everyone else has suggested that as well but I’ve decided against it.
Well quick update – venue has been booked for the 6th August 2006.
It’s done.
In other news, KU and his missus finally had their marriage registered yesterday finally after two years of living out of wedlock it would seem! With a bun in the oven I can only imagine what the registrar must have been thinking! I have to admit I couldn’t help but giggle when they were reading out their vows! I mean come on…this is KU and babs we are talking about! Babs told me to have mine done sooner after the wedding rather than later so that when I say my vows I would actually mean them! Lol. Typical!

Hayfever...

I’ve never had me down as a hayfever sufferer but I think I’m going to have to digress….
